Almost 100 doctoral students and young researches from all over Poland took part in National Conference “Mobility of doctoral students and young researches within the European Higher Education Area” organized on 15 October 2008 by the Scholarship and Training Fund in cooperation with the University of Warsaw. The conference was aimed at presenting various possibilities to conduct scientific research by individuals and developing competences of doctoral students and young researchers.
The official opening of the conference was performed by Professor Jerzy Błażejowski – Chairman of General Council for Higher Education, Professor Marta Kicińska-Habior – Vice-Rector for students Affairs from the University of Warsaw, as well as Mirosław Marczewski – acting Director of Foundation for the Development of the Education System and Katarzyna Aleksandrowicz – Programme Coordinator of Scholarship and Training Fund.
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Warsaw took patronage over the conference and the Embassy was represented by: Ms. Sidsel Bleken – Counsellor-Minister and Ms. Agata Ślusarczyk – Adviser–EEA Grants.
Opulent choice of possibilities which allow young researchers to develop their professional competences, as well as chances and threats connected with abroad research placements were presented by our guest speakers: Ms. Anna Wiśniewska – Vice-Director for horizontal priorities at National Focal Point for Research Programmes at the Polish Academy of Sciences, Ms. Katarzyna Martowska – Bologna Expert, Proxy from Krajowa Reprezentacja Doktorantów (National Council for Doctoral Students), dr inż. Adam Paruch from Bioforsk Jor dog miljø in Norway, as well as Professor Janusz Ryczkowski – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.
The weekly magazine POLITYKA, which held the media patronage over the Conference, was represented by Professor Tomasz Szapiro from Warsaw School of Economics and at the same time the member of jury in „Zostańcie z nami” (“Stay with us”) competition for young Polish researchers organized by Fundacja Tygodnika “Polityka”. Professor Szapiro underlined that the action „Zostańcie z nami” (“Stay with us”), organized by POLITYKA magazine since 2001, could be a great idea to continue the research and scientific work after young researchers come back to Poland from their research grants which were supported by Scholarship and Training Fund.
Mirosław Marczewski – Acting Director of Foundation for the Development of the Education System (FRSE) presented wide range of financing possibilities for educational projects, both institutional as well as individual, offer by the FRSE. The officers of Scholarship and Training Fund – Katarzyna Aleksandrowicz and Sylwia Iżyniec discussed the possibilities to finance institutional projects under STF. Moreover, Anna Pavlovych presented the possibilities of supporting individual projects of doctoral students and young researchers under the Scholarship and Training Fund. Finally, the conference ended with workshops prepared by STF officers who explained how to prepare good project proposals under Measure III – Individual Grants by giving participants tips how to fill in the on-line application form under the second call for proposals.
